We first met in 2018 while both being employed at Target in Winston-Salem. After it was discovered that I could take a joke, and give it right back, we instantly became best friends (all three of us Blake, Brady and myself). We would hang out every night after work until 2 or 3 AM. Blake would ask to switch shifts with his coworkers so we could work the same nights. We remained best friends for the next three years to come. There were many late night movies watched, many dinners made, many UNO games lost, many arguments, many make ups, many pool days and many trips to Goldsboro to get tattoos. We did everything together (literally, everything). What came as a surprise for both of us, is that during these three years, we were building a foundation for a relationship to be built. We had built trust, we had built respect and, most importantly, we had built an inseparable bond. It only took a couple of weeks to be able to finish each other's sentences. Blake can tell what type of day I've had by how I put a dish in a sink, and I can tell what type of day he's had just by looking at his body language. It wasn't until year four of our friendship when we realized that maybe we weren't okay with the other one dating anyone else. There were many prayers, many tears, a whole lot of thinking and not a single bit of doubt, when I decided to take a gamble and tell him (at 5 AM) that I think that maybe...just maybe, we'd have a shot. It turns out, that's all I had to say. We learned that those many years of friendship were in fact the perfect foundation for a relationship to be built upon...and here we are.
