Mario and I met in the fall of 2007, freshman year at Northwestern State University of small town Natchitoches, Louisiana. We instantly became friends and bonded through the struggles and joys of college life. We fell in love and dated all throughout college. September 2013, we had our baby girl Avery! She’s been our greatest blessing, continuously bringing joy to our lives. Life has its ways of throwing curve balls, but we’ve always found our way back to each other. On February 17, 2018, we decided to have a birthday party for Mario at our home. Mario rarely does anything “big” for his birthday so this was only going to be a cookout for some family and friends to come over and hang out. As we finished blessing the food in prayer, Mario gets awkwardly quiet and calls my name. I’m thinking he’s queuing me to say something to “thank our guests” for coming right? lol *clears throat* “Yes, Thank y’all for coming...” But he gets on one knee and PROPOSES!! I still get excited every time I tell the story. How selfless is he to propose on his birthday?! He unknowingly makes me fall more and more in love with him each day. So many emotions came rushing at once, joy, excitement, and most of all love! I screamed ecstatically and of course said YES!! It was perfect. My family was there, his family was there and all of our close friends from near and far. I’m so grateful for a man that prays for me, that listens to me and most of all loves me unconditionally. I know everyday will not always be sunshine but with God in our lives I know all things are possible. To our family and friends, we love you all so much and thank you for your support over the years and years to come!
