Joe and Lanae first met at Boreal Ski Resort. Lanae was a ski racer and was night training after school, Joe was a lift operator at the top of the Accelerator chairlift, working the night shift. Have you ever seen a speedsuit for competitive ski racers? If not, look it up. Now you know what caught Joe's attention. Joe and Lanae would talk every time Lanae made it back to the top of the chairlift, and eventually they exchanged numbers. He asked Lanae to text him that night, but she never did. Joe ended up sending her a text when she got home from training that evening, and the rest is history. From there, Lanae would visit Joe in Rocklin, then South Lake Tahoe. She eventually moved to South Lake and they soon ended up moving in together. After several years in South Shore, they moved down to Placerville. Joe’s large circle of friends and family became Lanae’s friends and family. And Lanae’s large group of friends and family joined Joe’s inner circle. The puzzle pieces all just fit together. Joe and Lanae found they had much in common – a love for skiing and the outdoors, playing card games, rooting for the Golden State Warriors, and Olde English bulldogges. Although Lanae was a Steelers fan and Joe bleeds 49ers red and gold, they found they could compromise, too. Joe would travel to Pittsburgh with her to see the Steel Curtain in action, and Lanae would begrudgingly watch the Niners, if the Steelers game wasn’t on. The big test of their relationship came when when Lanae was accepted into the DVM program at The University of Arizona's College of Veterinary Medicine. Both Joe and Lanae have always been extremely close to their families and friends in California. Lanae was asking Joe to give up everything he knew and move with her to another state where both literally knew no one. The couple depended upon each other, and they found they could thrive wherever they were, as long as they had each other and their beloved bulldogges, Nemo and Dory, with them. Now they have a newfound circle of friends and family from Arizona, to join the existing groups. The circle keeps widening and the puzzle pieces keep magically matching up. Their friends and families keep growing, and becoming intertwined. Now Joe and Lanae are taking the next step and committing to taking whatever comes next as a team -- forever, together.
