Without knowing each other, Kris and Carlos landed in Roanoke, Virginia in August of 2007, just one day apart. Both of them viewed Roanoke as a temporary stay. Three months later, Kris was out at a bar waiting on his friend. In walks Carlos, passing Kris without seeing him. It's the age old story of, boy sees boy, boy catches other boy's eyes, both boys like each other, but both boys have egos. Luckily, they eventually get into a conversation. After that night, they were pretty much inseparable. A few months into their relationship, Kris moved into Carlos' apartment while his house was being repaired due to a house fire. Since then, Kris always referred to Carlos as his husband. Carlos thought Kris was cray cray because of this, but in a nice way. Though from time to time, Carlos did worry about Kris skinning him alive. Like all couples, Carlos and Kris faced many challenges throughout their 15 year relationship. Moving their parents closer to them, enduring the deaths of their mothers, building two houses together, purchasing and selling many, many, many, many vehicles, moving to Indiana from Virginia, and starting new careers in fields they never thought of before. Both Kris and Carlos enjoy traveling, hosting friends, and spending time with family. Their love for community is apparent by the number of friends that have adopted them as family, and the many children that call them uncles without being related. Kris and Carlos have a deep and profound interest in each other. Both of them seek the other's thoughts on various subjects, even when knowing that they have different perspectives. Love and companionship has kept them together on their journey through life, with a touch of adventure and thrill. They've stayed together this long by desire not obligation. So after 15 years, they are happy to announce that they both are fully committed to marrying each other without reservation. They are excited for all the adventures in store for them.
