Elizabeth Harpin and James Markey's Wedding Website
On an ordinary Saturday in April, we both went to work. By mid-afternoon, this ordinary Saturday turned into one of the most beautiful days of the spring, with sunny skies and a temp of around 75 degrees. Around 4:00pm, Elizabeth suggested they do something to enjoy the nice weather, "Lets go to the beach." James agreed. We drove to Sawyer's Beach in Rye, parked in a permit-only parking area (we didn't have a permit) and went for a walk on the beach. We walked from Sawyer's Beach to Jenness Beach (remember the first date?), and shortly after turning around to walk back, James stopped walking and said "I have a question to ask you." Elizabeth immediately knew what that meant. James got down on one knee and opened the ring box, staring up at Elizabeth. After a few moments, she said "What's the question?" James smiled and said "Will you marry me?" At this point, Elizabeth was laughing almost uncontrollably from excitement (and shock and disbelief), but managed a "Yes!" We are *finally* engaged! And in true James fashion, he didn't plan a single detail!
