Caitlin Westveer and Kohl Westveer's Wedding Website
Kohl: There we were, living out a picture-perfect day at an amusement park. We were both teaming up with excitement for this day for overlapping yet different reasons. I had a very special surprise to keep, which took some teamwork with one of my best friends in the form of smuggling the key to the next beautiful step of our eternal lives through the king's security system. After a few high-intensity roller coasters, I felt the urge to go through with it, and when we reached the beautiful fountains backdropped by the Eifel Tower, I knew it was the time. I held her wrist to keep her still and locked in on her eyes, my heart beating immensely. So much so that I placed her hand on my chest as a way to convey the significance of what was to come. I had a few ideas of what I would say leading up to this moment, but with my emotions in a climactic and explosive flux, I defaulted on a simple yet reassuring tactic- I just told her the truth. I told her about the out-of-this-world experiences I've had with her and the blissful connections and bonds we've grown, both emotional and spiritual allowing me to paint a vivid picture to my soon-to-be fiance of the way I feel most accurately and smoothly. My friend began giving us distance, camera drawn. Concluding my nostalgia-marinating memories, I knelt down with the intention of reaching new heights upon rising. I said, "That's why I want you to be my wife. Will you marry me?". Caitlin appeared to be in shock as I drew her ring out into the bright sun glimmering beautifully. I heard gasps, a few oh my gosh, even a fairly lewd suggestion in the background; they were all on a different planet for all I was concerned. The yes was music to my ears as I rose, sliding the glistening symbol of our love onto her silky finger, followed up by an aggressive hug of embrace and a kiss of bliss. The euphoria was real and truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience as we stood happily together, engaged for all the world to see. A passerby approached us seemingly out of nowhere, congratulating us and wishing us the best after gifting us a stack of crisp two-dollar bills, which we immediately began planning on converting into our congratulatory lunch. Caitlin: Looking back on the day, there were several indicators of what would be our happiest day so far. He asked my parents for their blessing; my sweet, silly boy told me I should wear heels to an amusement park; I tried to find something in his backpack, but he said no very suddenly when I reached in; he was so nervous he split his bottle of water all over me; his secretive, not so secretive, texting with Andy on the way there. He just kept telling me that we would have an amazing time and make wonderful memories. We had such an amazing time already, so we decided to get lunch. He asked me what spot I thought was the most beautiful in the park. I said the fountains, so we went to find them. Once we had walked up to the spot I had declared most beautiful, Kohl grabbed my hands and told me how much he loved me. I told him I loved him very much and said, alright, let's get some food as I started to walk away. He held my hands firm and would not let me move and told me that we were going to stay here for a while. This was the moment that I knew it was happening. He started his beautiful speech that seemed to last forever; it was like we were frozen in time; I could only see and hear him. After his speech, and this is where he absolutely melted my heart, he kissed my cheek, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. And without a second of hesitation, I said yes.
